In grade 3, we are finishing up with the transdisciplinary theme “WHO WE ARE”.
The students collaboratively made posters on how to manage their emotions.
After reflecting on everything that we have learned throughout our unit of inquiry, the students chose to write a non-fiction storybook. Their stories include anything related to our unit of inquiry and what we have learned. Some students wrote about relationships, some wrote about feelings and emotions, and some students chose to include the learner profile in their stories. Once the students completed their final presentation of their storybooks, they shared it with their peers.
We are focusing on making reading a part of our daily life. At the beginning of October, the students set a reading goal for themselves. They have a reading log to record the number of books that they have read. The students are actively trying to reach their personal goals.
MAP testing
The students completed 3 MAP tests, including a language test, a reading test, and a Mathematics test. This test will show the students the progress they have made, and it was a chance for the students to show everyone what they know and can do!
Literacy week – DOORS!
Students prepared for literacy week by collaboratively deciding how they wanted to decorate our classroom doors based on their favorite storybooks.
Mr. Rob and Mrs. Grace surprised the students by coming into the classrooms and reading them a story. The students were hanging on every word that they read. The students enjoyed the experience, and they were excited to listen and participate in discussions.
Author visit – Clive Pig!
We had the privilege of having a virtual author visit from Clive Pig, a storyteller, poet, and children’s author. The students enjoyed listening to his
exciting tales. His presentation was entertaining, and the students enjoyed the theatrics. He made the stories come to life, and the students loved it. His visit was a definite highlight!
Harvest Festival.
Students enjoyed a fun-filled day playing games, winning candy, and dressing up as their favorite characters.
We are looking forward to starting the new transdisciplinary theme “HOW WE EXPRESS OURSELVES” soon.
