Lifelong learning is a core concept of IB education at Wahaha International School. At WIS, we are committed to excellence in education and achieve this by making a significant investment in the professional development of our teachers every academic year. One key program the school offers teachers is the International Baccalaureate (IB) training program.
The IB training program at Wahaha International School is a comprehensive program that covers all aspects of IB, including its philosophy, teaching methods, assessment strategies, differentiated instruction, and student-centred learning.
The program is designed to provide teachers with the necessary knowledge and skills to deliver a high-quality education to our learners, and practical strategies for implementing the program in their classrooms.
In general, we have three methods: WIS Targeted Learning Program, Subject leaders’ learning and sharing, and Teachers’ independent choice of learning courses to ensure that every teacher can have reasonable learning content.
• WIS provides the necessary support and resources for the successful completion.
Ms. Olivia, Academic Director of WIS, conducts a detailed survey of educational background and work experience of all WIS teachers every year, and give every teacher 2-3 targeted training suggestions per sememster.
For instance, in response to the “difficulty in teaching evaluation” reported by PYP teachers, we arranged a special training on “Evidence Learning”, which made the process of “traceless” teaching evaluation clearer to most people.
All our teachers have obtained the C1 certification of the IB course throung several rounds of professional training, and more teachers have obtained the C2 and C3 certifications. Teachers with different foundations will receive training suggestions in different directions.
“IB is all about collaboration and integration of different subjects when planning for a Unit of Inquiry, it is essential to collaborate and learn from different people in our learning community. Collaboration amongst colleagues has been a very enriching experience so far in terms of personal and professional development as it offers a chance for everyone to learn from each other, and share different perspectives and experiences. Collaboration amongst colleagues helps build relationships in the workplace helping everyone work together, share resources, support each other, and most importantly support the students.” —— Ms. Chané, PYP Homeroom Teacher
• WIS teachers can propose training subjects of interest for comprehensive evaluation.
• Every teacher receives four training sessions per school year.
• WIS encourage teachers to pursue advanced degrees and certifications in their areas of specialization and the school provides financial support and flexible scheduling to enable teachers for it.
In addition to providing traditional International Baccalaureate (IB) education and training, we also offer intensive teacher training in various areas such as school-running philosophy, academic instruction, life management, and project-based teaching. Our goal is to promote personal and professional growth among our staff, which in turn benefits our school community.
Let us strive for personal excellence and the continued success of WIS!
