As the autumn breeze ushers in a new chapter, Wahaha International School proudly begins its ninth academic year. This milestone is not only significant for the school but for every member of the WIS family.
The first month of the semester has been filled with both challenges and delightful surprises. Whether in the classroom or during extracurricular activities, our students have immersed themselves in a wide array of learning experiences, fostering curiosity, creativity, and personal growth. Let’s take a look back at some of these highlights.
01
Welcome New G1 Students
Starting Their WIS Journey
One of the most exciting parts of the new school year has been welcoming our newest Grade 1 students to WIS.
We’re thrilled to see how quickly they’ve settled into the community. With the patience and support of their teachers, these students have not only gained confidence in expressing themselves in class but have also developed great study habits.
Whether it’s through group discussions or individual presentations, their enthusiasm for learning is already shining through.
02
Mid-Autumn Exhibition of Handcrafts
Celebrating Chinese Tradition and Culture
In mid-September, our students celebrated the Mid-Autumn Festival with a beautiful handcrafts exhibition.
As part of the Chinese Language and Culture curriculum, students from all grades actively participated, drew inspiration from traditional Mid-Autumn Festival elements to create exquisite Mid-Autumn Festival handcrafts, which were featured in the grand exhibition.
The exhibition not only showcased the students’ creativity but also their appreciation and understanding of Chinese heritage, enriching their connection to the culture.
03
Student Council Elections
Leaders in the Making
This month, WIS held a new round of Student Council elections. From G5 through G9 first conducted their preliminary elections within their own classrooms, with students participating enthusiastically.
After the first round of elections, each class determined the final list of nominees through voting and proceeded to the second round of elections for Student Council leaders.
The candidates demonstrated remarkable leadership and teamwork, presenting creative ideas and initiatives to improve school life.
Their speeches received high praise from both peers and teachers, and these young leaders are eager to make a positive impact on our school community.
04
Choir Auditions
Confidence in Every Note
The WIS Choir held auditions for new members this month, and students from G3 to G5 bravely took to the stage.
After a competitive selection process, several students were chosen to join the choir. Over the coming weeks, they’ll receive specialized training from our music teachers.
We look forward to their performances, which promise to be a memorable highlight for the entire school.
05
ABRSM Music Theory & Orff Ensemble
Wonderful Musical Journey
This semester, WIS introduced an exciting new music theory course that combines the fundamentals of ABRSM with the hands-on learning of the Orff method.
Students are learning music theory while playing instruments like xylophones, metallophones, and percussion.
The course fosters creativity, collaboration, and a deep love for music, helping students connect theory to practice in meaningful ways.
06
WIS MYP Rock Band
Creating Our Own Musical Legends
This year WIS students will form two student rock bands under the leadership of our teachers. This month, we conducted the band member selection and divided the selected members into two teams based on their grades.
Starting with songs from their favorite artists, students are learning to play guitar, bass, drums, piano, and vocals. But it doesn’t stop there — they’re also analyzing these songs to understand what makes them work and will eventually write their own lyrics and compose original music.
In addition to the music, students will learn the practical side of being in a band, from setting up a concert stage to recording and even designing merchandise.
