The 2022 Mid-Autumn Festival falls on Teachers’ Day, i.e. September 10th, making it all the more special!
So today, we are going to try something different.
Would you like to explore what’s beneath the exterior of those standing behind the podium passing on knowledge?
Would you like to know the interesting anecdotes between students and teachers?
On this special day, we followed the teachers with a camera to capture what they do both inside and outside of the classroom and invited the students to share their stories.
What hidden skills do they have?
Watch the video and you will be surprised!
At WIS, teachers and students work well together. Students do not only have conversations with their teachers, but they feel comfortable confiding in them too.
On this Teachers’ Day, what stories do the students have to share that have happened between themselves and the teachers? And what do they want to say to the teachers?
Let’s have a listen to some of the stories:
Hello. I am Tanmay. I have been part of WIS for four years now. As it is Teachers’ Day today, I would like to talk about something special.
Our teachers are all very kind and supportive. When I was in 5th grade, we started to work on writing. I was afraid of it like many students usually are, but our teachers always encouraged us to continue to try.
We wrote according to the book, meaning we followed the step-by-step procedures. This of course was hard because I wasn’t good at making things up at that time. So, after having discussed it with my teacher, I chose to write a personal narrative. This is a true story, so I had no trouble writing it. This piece of writing encouraged me a lot. It taught me the ability to write creatively and for different purposes.
Last year, I improved my writing skills a lot, because of the continuous essay writing we were doing, and because I was reading many books. Teachers often tell us to read books, in order to improve our general knowledge and reading skills.
Besides this, teachers here at WIS, for example, Miss Summer and Miss Ellen have really encouraged me in doing a lot more activities. Already at the start of this year, I have probably taken part in more activities, than I have ever taken before, in one whole school year. So I would like to thank all my teachers for their support. I know this will help me a lot in the future. In fact, it has already helped improve my confidence this year.

We met Ms. Alicia, our Chinese teacher, in 2020; she was a G2 Chinese teacher at that time. She was so beautiful, elegant, great with students and gentle. She has a smile on her face all the time which leaves a great impression on us.
She has created so many happy memories of our childhood and taken us to a lot of beautiful places. We harvested rice in Hangzhou Bagua Farmland, tried thrashing, picked rape flowers in Zizai Village, and made ecological bottles and dream catchers.
Now, she will take us on a new journey as our G4 Chinese teacher. I’m so excited that she is once again our Chinese teacher.

Teacher Joseph has a great sense of humor. I remembered the interview we did with him last semester, in which he told us that he liked biting, making us roar with laughter. His class is always great fun.

A great teacher is a beacon of light dispelling darkness, just like the bright moon lighting up the road ahead. We sincerely thank each teacher at Wahaha International School for being the bright moon and stars in our lives, and for their hard work at the podium continuing to lead us to a brighter future.
Wishing you all a very joyful Teachers’ Day, and a very happy Mid-Autumn Festival!
