WIS students have been enjoying Literacy Week. There were many fun activities scheduled for the week. Our visiting author was Clive Pig. He told stories to our students via Zoom. The stories came from all over the world!! We also enjoyed the Book Fair. It was so exciting to have our vendors physically come to our campus so our students could look at the books and purchase them.
The 5th grade presented a Living Museum about Charlotte’s Web. They did such a good job with their projects and explaining to their audience! We also got to enjoy our Principal, Rob, and our Vice Principal, Grace, reading books to the classes throughout the week. A Chinese author visited our G1 students’ classes. And finally, our week ended with Drop Everything And Read (DEAR Time). Teachers decorated their doors in a book theme. All teachers also have a poster created by our art teacher, Mrs. Michelle, which shows our love for reading as a staff.
On Friday, our students and staff were able to dress in costume for the day. We had a Fashion Show before lunch and our afternoon was spent enjoying the Harvest Party! So much fun this week while we immersed ourselves in reading!
Thank you to all the staff who helped us in planning and delivering Literacy Week. We need to say a special thank you to our parent volunteers. We had parents attending the Book Fair to help supervise students attending. Also, the parents provided us with the Harvest Party activities. Parents purchased supplies, set up, and ran the activities! Thank you, so much! We couldn’t have had a great Harvest Party without you!!!
