Grade 3A & 3B
Over the last three weeks, we’ve discussed our central idea: Our Our Emotions And How Behavior Impact Our Relationships. We started our unit by discussing different emotions and feelings. After gathering all the information we already knew about feelings and emotions, we extended our knowledge by reading a book that explained even more complex emotions and feelings.
The students created word art expressing how they see a particular emotion. They concentrated on the font, images, and color. The students enjoyed expressing themselves and being creative.
We continued to investigate what causes our emotions. Throughout this unit of inquiry, we’ve been focusing on the learner profiles: caring, principled, and communicators. We’ve continually been linking kindness and empathy to everything we do. We reflect every day before we go home and write our emotions and feelings down in our daily journals.
We’ve had discussions about different relationships in our lives and how our emotions impact our relationships. We invited the school counselor, Ms. Claire, to talk to the students about positive and effective ways to
manage emotions and feelings. The students are currently collecting more information on managing emotions, which they will use to create action posters to display outside the classrooms collaboratively.
