On the evening of September 12, the first Principals’ meeting of WIS new school year came as scheduled. Principal Anders, Vice Principal Lily had more than two hours of in-depth communication with parents, which made parents have a clearer understanding of school vision, the curriculum and the direction of WIS development for student learning.
At the meeting, Principal Anders presented the framework for the IB Programmes, known as the International Baccalaureate Primar y Years and Middle Years Programmes, and announced a two-year plan for the implementation of the Programmes at WIS.
In the next two years, WIS will focus on the integration of IB components into the written and taught curriculum, including teacher professional development in order to improve the quality of teaching, and foster future-ready skills. Anders mentioned that IB Programmes are applicable to all disciplines and all subjects are always student-centred. Teaching and learning is closely related to the personal needs of students.
What makes WIS special is that it provides children with a large, interdisciplinary curriculum and they learn in contexts. The two Principals are also encouraging and looking forward to the parents’ support. Parents showed a great interest in the IB curriculum and raised a lot of pertinent questions. The two Principals answered questions and doubts, and exchanged ideas on layered teaching, curriculum convergence, education anxiety and many other issues.
