On May 17th, grade 4 visited the Grand Canal where they were able to see first hand the history on how the grand canal was built and its purpose. We took a boat ride on the canal to Gongchen bridge and the students sketched their impressions while we cruised along the water. The group then explored the Grand Canal Museum, seeing artifacts from the many dynasties that worked on the canal, as well as a movie that explained the history of this important canal and how it has become a World Heritage site.
