All MYP Science classes analyzed nourishment, the supply of materials (food) required by organisms and cells to stay alive. They evaluated the metabolism and metabolic pathways – biochemical steps through which substances inside us are transformed from one form to another. They focused on how diseases, conditions, and problems can be prevented or reduced with a healthy diet.
Similarly, how nutrition involves identifying how certain diseases and conditions may be caused by dietary factors, such as poor diet, malnutrition, food allergies, and food intolerances. The grade 7 students are working on ‘Food waste’ as their summative assignment. The grade 6 and 8 students are trying to solve some health-related issues using an optimal diet.
