We offer a truly global student-centered curriculum that integrates worldwide standards and recognizes the diverse learning styles of our students. Our curriculum is complemented by the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum framework and is highlighted by the integration of traditional academic subjects with the most current methodologies and technologies so every learner can meet their fullest potential on their path to becoming a global citizen.

The WIS curriculum is based on the philosophies and framework of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Program, enriched by Chinese and international curricula, and benchmarked against international standards. It also has a strong emphasis on supporting students to develop the future work skills needed in a world where the nature of work is rapidly changing.

The WIS curriculum develops student abilities which include high-level thinking and problem-solving skills, creativity and innovation, and a wide range of ‘people skills’ such as collaboration, cooperation, communication, as well as emotional and intercultural intelligence. We share with parents our common goals for each child – we want them to be successful, healthy, and happy. We want them to work hard, to achieve their potential, and be involved in interesting, satisfying careers. We also want each child to ultimately become respectful, caring, and contributing members of society.

In our technologically centric age, WIS recognizes the importance of STEAM education (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics) and integrate the components into all learning opportunities.

Character, responsibility, and leadership are modeled and developed through engaging in solving challenges and problems in our local communities and around the world. This is done by understanding the issues locally and globally, taking action locally, in the understanding that all action whether big or small makes a difference and impacts globally. We mentor each individual to be involved in sustainable, independent service and active endeavors. The UN Sustainable Goals have been incorporated throughout our curriculum and provide us with a framework for learning about local, regional, and global issues. It encourages working together with others and taking responsibility for meaningful action as responsible members of our global society.

Now more than ever, educational institutions have to ensure that their students are supported in developing transferable life and career skills. In doing so, the students prepare themselves for present and future challenges in a rapidly changing world – understanding local and global issues from a multitude of perspectives, effectively collaborating with and leading others, as well as creating and innovating within a multitude of contexts.
