This month grades 6 and 7 worked with grade 5 students in our book club. We read the book ‘Holes’ and discussed the themes in the book and the students were able to practice skills we have been learning in class.
The students also completed projects on the book which we showcased along with Grade 5 to other students and teachers. The students were allowed to choose their project, which ranged from creating a poster, creating a map, writing an extra final chapter in to the book to doing a research project. The work completed by the students was very good!!
In ELA we have been working on our reading skills such as inferring, making predictions, and understanding of different types of text. The students practiced these skills in real life while we were reading and discussing the book ‘Holes’.
Alongside these we continued to work on our grammar, this month has been focused on proper and concrete nouns, irregular verb forms and subject-verb agreement.
