This past month in Grade 1B, we have been learning about how to write opinion pieces. Students have been encouraged to teach about what they like and what they do not like, and we have been learning a lot about each other and that our interests are different. On Friday, May 17, we spent an afternoon talking about open-mindedness, and we discovered that it is good to listen to other people’s differences. We learned that we can celebrate that everyone is different and even try things that are not familiar to us. Together, we read a book about two people who tried what the other person likes, and we wrote our own story that retells what we read in our own words. We will keep our group project in the classroom library.
