This week, WIS hosted an exciting Spirit Week, filled with activities that celebrated the school’s vibrant culture and community.
Students and teachers changed their outfits according to the theme of the events and participated in new and interesting activities with like-minded friends.
DAY 01
OPENNING CEREMONY
& INTERNATIONAL SLANG
On Day 1 of Spirit Week, we held a brief opening ceremony, where the teachers’ band delivered a wonderful opening performance.
Each grade wore specific colored clothing, and at the end of the opening ceremony, they formed a giant “WIS ☺” on the playground.
During class time, MYP students celebrated International Slang under the theme “Colors of Culture”.
They explored slang phrases and greetings from different countries, reflecting on their own cultures while learning from others.
By being open-minded and reflective, students discovered how language evolves and transcends borders. They worked collaboratively to create informative posters, focusing on the connection between language and identity.
This engaging experience helped them appreciate the diversity of expressions and the power of language in a globalized world.
DAY 02
BOOK DAY
On Day 2 of Spirit Week, the whole school brought the cozy vibes, with everyone — from our learners to our teachers — rocking their favorite pajamas! Fuzzy slippers, onesies, and flannel sets were the trend of the day as we embraced a fun and relaxed atmosphere.
During 6th period, our G6 and G7 got comfy with a special reading of Hans Christian Andersen’s The Fir Tree.
This timeless story reminded us all to appreciate the present moment rather than rushing through life.
To make it even more fun, the students from the G8 and G9 ELL classes teamed up to read stories to younger students, spreading the love of reading throughout the entire campus.
After reading, students reflected on the story’s message and shared what advice they would give to the main character. Adding to the fun, our younger students joined in on Buddy Reading, pairing up with older buddies to share stories and spread the love of reading across the school.
It’s amazing to see our students engaging deeply with literature while embracing the spirit of the week.
DAY 03
CHINESE CULTURE DAY
On Day 3, WIS celebrated Spirit Week with Chinese Culture Day, showcasing the beauty of Chinese calligraphy!
The air was filled with the enchanting essence of calligraphy as students and teachers participated in a hard pen calligraphy competition. Each stroke reflected their dedication, turning them into little calligraphy masters.
Our CAL teachers have also organized an engaging brush calligraphy activity for both local and international staff and students. Participants enthusiastically created calligraphy fans, bookmarks, wind chimes, and more, blending traditional beauty with modern creativity.
Through each brushstroke, WIS students explore the rich heritage of Chinese culture, embracing the elegance that defines our shared history.
DAY 04
WACKY HAT DAY
Day 4 was celebrated with Wacky Hat Day, and creativity was on full display! From Pikachu ears to wizard hats, our students and teachers showed off their unique styles, bringing imagination and personality to life.
Some kids sported Pikachu’s electric ears, channeling their inner Pokémon trainers, while others rocked vibrant afros, radiating energy like they were straight out of a lively, mysterious tribe. We even spotted a few wizards roaming the halls with magical hats, making us feel like we’d stepped right into Hogwarts!
These fun and imaginative looks didn’t just add excitement to the day — they also reminded us of the students’ incredible creativity and their dreams of all things magical.
Through Wacky Hat Day, we hope to inspire even more creativity and build a lively, uplifting learning environment for everyone!
DAY 05
COLOR RUN
On the last day of the Spirit Week, we welcomed the award ceremony and the Color Run.
This week has been an incredible celebration of school pride, creativity, and community spirit. We’ve had so much fun and seen so much energy from all of you!
We wrapped up Spirit Week with an explosion of energy and color! The Color Run was a burst of fun, creativity, and team spirit as students, teachers, and staff hit the track for a vibrant celebration of movement and togetherness.
Dressed in every shade of the rainbow, our WIS family ran, jogged, and walked through colorful powder stations, creating a whirlwind of joy and laughter. Each color splash symbolized our shared values of unity, positivity, and healthy living.
It wasn’t just about running — it was about embracing the moment, expressing individuality, and wrapping up Spirit Week on a high note! A huge shout-out to everyone for making this day unforgettable!
Let’s keep that WIS spirit alive!
